STARS

Licensed child care providers in Washington state are required to complete a 20-hour basic training and 10 hours of continuing training annually.

The Washington State Training and Registry System (STARS) is a career development and training system for individuals who work in child care, early education, and school-age care.

STARS training is for family child care providers, school age care supervisors, school age care site coordinators, center directors, program supervisors, and lead staff.

The 20-Hour STARS Basic Training can be taken through a Washington STARS approved trainer. Child Care Resources is a STARS approved trainer.

To Search for STARS Training - visit the MERIT Website

Step 1: Request STARS ID

A Stars ID Request Form must be submitted to Washington STARS to get a STARS ID which is used to track all STARS training. Go to STARS ID Request

Step 2: STARS 20-Hour Basic Training

The STARS 20-hour Basic Training must be completed within the first six months of being licensed or hired. The material covered in the 20-Hour Basic Training is based on the state guidebook, An Adult Sized Guide to Child Sized Environments, which is a companion to Washington State’s licensing requirements. We offer this training.
