Board of Directors - How to Become Involved
Child Care Resources is committed to insuring that we have a --diversely skilled – supply of potential Board members. We welcome contact from people who are interested in exploring the possibility of joining our board. Identifying and cultivating potential board candidates is a continuous activity. This recruitment needs to happen whether there is a current opening or not.

Child Care Resources is a non-profit agency whose vision is that every child has a great start in school and in life. The core services of the agency include:

• Information and referral services to assist families in selecting child care
• Recruitment, training and technical support of licensed and informal caregivers to improve the quality and supply of child care and help children be ready for school
• Education, advocacy, and coordinated efforts to strengthen our communities

Child Care Resources is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of from twelve to twenty-five members. The Board is legally and ethically responsible for all activities of the agency. The CCR Board is a policy-making board. It is primarily concerned with helping the agency achieve its mission by establishing outcomes, setting strategic direction, developing board policies, and evaluating and supporting the chief executive officer. We do this in a thoughtful, enjoyable atmosphere of Board meetings and committee meetings as needed.

A Director's term of office is three years. We meet eight times a year at noon on the first Thursday of the month in Seattle and hold a day long retreat on a Saturday - usually in January. We vote on potential board members at our June and December board meetings.
